He is taking his friend Tim Farriss through the steps of setting up and using a studio space and talking about some of the ideas behind doing business. I do have some exciting photographic news! We are about to see a new camera come out that is a real game changer. Once you think you have seen the most amazing new stuff out something new comes in.

A few years ago my friend George Lepp came and did a presentation to Peak Digital Imaging Society and introduced us to a computer program called Helicon. Here is a sample of what it does by stacking images on top of each other to give the illusion of greater focal depth.

You can also do photo stacking in the newer versions of Photoshop. Usually it takes a bit more work to get the same results.

Now with new information about how to use light we have a process called Lytro’s Light Field Camera where you can take a photo and then determine the point of focus after the fact. You can even have the entire photo in focus from front to back. Click on the link and then move over parts of the photo you would like to have in focus and click on it.

Well, the Abraham Obama book was recently released! I have 70 images in the book including a mosaic created with hundreds of photos from the Obama campaign. The primary work of the book is based on the art of Ron English. Ron created an amazing image melding a photograph of Lincoln and another of Obama, it was  a perfect fit!

We are observing history. Weather we agree with the politics of the day on either side major shifts have taken place here in the USA. We are in the greatest need for all members of congress to get together and push for what is right for the people and stop the partisanship of the day. With the election of Obama we see an excitement in the ideals of change. Obama’s election is the fulfillment of dreams set forth by the actions taken by Lincoln. When Lincoln was elected President in 1860 he was the first Republican president of the US. Now in 2008 Obama is the first black/white president of the US. Two lawyers from the state of Illinois have set the force of change in this country in ways never seen before.

The Abraham Obama book documents the efforts of several artists in the effort to see Obama elected president. Ron English paved the way with his amazing image and several of us followed suite in producing the strongest images we could at the time for a chance at change!

I was watching TED’s and came across this post. I thought it was a good one for artists to think about and look at how we use and interact with the art around us vs. how our children do the same!

Timber did shows around town including at Rubish Gallery, Smokebrush Center, V bar, and the incubator. He also created art for Burning Man, and built shelters that can be found hidden throughout Colorado.

Timber always had a playful curiosity and enjoyed creating new things and seeing how they worked in his surrounding. I really don’t know how to provide proper tribute to Timber but, to say he will be missed.
